Highland Wildlife Park for a fun filled family day
We are open every day of the year apart from Christmas Day or days when there is heavy snow / ice.
Discover Scotland’s wildlife and endangered animals of the world’s mountain and tundra regions - all within the spectacular setting of the Cairngorms National Park. Wolverine, snow monkeys, capercaillie, yaks, wolves, wildcats and our very popular polar bears, Walker and Arktos. Visit our fantastic Wolf Wood, and see our wolf pups and watch our two extremely playful Amur tiger cubs born last May.
The Highland Wildlife Park was opened in 1972 and, along with Edinburgh Zoo, is run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
Start your family visit with a drive through our reserve where you can view a wide selection of animals including red deer, European bison, camels and elk from your own car.
Park the car and wander around the Park. Catch the feeding times for the Snow Monkeys, Polar Bears, Wildcats, Reindeer, Amur Tigers and the Red Pandas. Complete your family day out with a visit to our Gift Shop and Cafe.
Land Rover Tours:
Join one of the daily Land Rover tours of the Reserve where you can see our European Bison, Red Deer, Bukhara Deer, Elk, Przewalski's Horses, Vicuna and wild birds. Bookable at the Shop on arrival. Suggested donation of £1.
Treat your family to a day with an experienced guide who will accompany your group as you explore the Park. Share a special "behind the scenes" treat and photograph the tigers and our polar bears while they are fed their early morning breakfast. Experience the magnificent scenery from our Main Reserve with the chance to catch a glimpse of our European Elk, Red Deer, Przewalski's Horses and also the European Bison herd. From Snowy Owls, Scottish Wildcats, Pine Marten and even a Lynx or two if you're really patient - these are just a few of the animals you could meet on your journey.
Morning and afternoon coffee and lunch are included in the price of £125 per person. Booking is essential.
Keeper for the Day:
With our Keeper for a Day experience you can get up close and personal to the animals in the Park, help to feed and, of course, clean them out. During the day, you will be able to get much closer to the animals than any member of the public normally can; see how our animals are fed and you may be asked to help with feeding. You can ask the keepers any questions you may have about the animals in their care. You will get plenty of opportunities to take photos, so bring your camera! £250 per person with a maximum of 2 people. All food and drink is included and you will also receive a Highland Wildlife Park T-shirt.
